Hello everyone,

We want to get a status update to everyone who has signed up with the 70's, has expressed interest, or volunteered to sub when needed.  We now have 24 registered players who have either paid or will give me a check the next time we meet.  There are a few others who have expressed interest in playing a few games or trying one before committing.  And depending on what happens with the other 70 Wednesday league, we may pick up a few more players.  So things are coming together nicely and we should have some fun games.  We will limit team size as we know you all want to play as many innings as possible.  

Many of you know John Engereiser as he played in the CN for many years and he has umpired many of our CN games.  He has agreed to umpire all of our 70 games except for May 20 and 27.  You may get Todd and myself for those games.  

The 70 Division season will start Wednesday, May 13 and you will play 15 games.  There may be a holiday week where there is no game so the season may run 16 weeks.  The schedule will be on the website soon. If you want additional games, we can add them after the season is done.  

Dave Schulz and a co-manager of his choice will head one of our teams.  Please let me know if you have any interest in organizing/managing the other team.  We will split the teams so both have enough pitching, catching and coverage at other positions.  The manager will have to make sure on a Monday they have enough players, and if someone is needed we will find subs from the 65 division. We will make sure there are always 11 on a team for games.  The manager will also set defensive assignments to split playing time evenly.  

Please let me know the positions you can play, especially pitching and catching.  If you have not pitched before but want to try, talk to your manager and you will get an opportunity to try.  

The website is 65northstarsbaseball.org.  It will soon have your schedule posted, and there are some practice games in April that are shown.  Let me know at least a week in advance if you would like to play in a practice game.  It will be a $10 per person fee for league members.  You can invite others but it will be $15 for them.  We will play these games at Wheeling with used balls and no umps - just practice.  

We have a rough draft of rules for the 65 Division based on the CN 65 rules.  The 70's can start with them and make any changes they feel are necessary.
