Hello everyone, 

We haven't communicated for a while and we were getting feedback that some of you were wondering what is going on with the 65 Northstars.  So here is our February update.

There are now 88 registered players, 66 have paid and 5 more have made commitments to play with us which gives us 4 teams of 14 and one with 15.  We expect some other registered players to pay, and our target is to have the teams start with 15 players.  We do not want rosters much larger than this, because some of you will be driving a long way and we don't want you to have just a few innings in the field and 1 at bat.  

 

Since we are confident that we will have at least 5 teams, we have named some interim managers.  Each team will have a co-manager to share the work, and they are:

Former Astros return Mike Baniak and Phil Helding

Former Dodgers will now be led by Curt Pederson and Paul Pudaite

Former Rangers return Jerry Tatar and Rob Giblin will co-manage

Expansion team Green Wave will be managed by the one and only Paulie Ociepka backed up by Mike Haase

Second expansion team will be managed by Jude Duffy & a co-manager

 

Our plans are to get the managers or representatives of each team together in mid March to finalize the rosters with the goal of balancing the teams. 

When rosters are set, managers will contact their players and let them vote if they want to keep the interim managers. 

We have written up rules that are similar to the ones you are familiar with and we had last year in the CN 65's.  Each team can discuss them and possibly make some changes or come up with a few new rules.  When all teams are ready, there will be a rules meeting with a representative from each team to finalize rules for this season. 

If you have some ideas, bring them to your team meeting for consideration.   

 

The 3 former CN teams will use their uniforms from last year.  The 2 expansion teams can decide what they want for uniforms.  Some feel that picking some funny and obscure minor league team names might be fun.
